Over the past year the Virginia Cyber Alliance placed 48 high school and college interns with local cyber companies and helped five (5) companies hire eight (8) new cybersecurity employees.
The Virginia Cyber Alliance (VCA) was started in January 2018 with funding provided by the Commonwealth of Virginia GO Virginia initiative. Primarily supporting economic and workforce development in southeastern Virginia (aka Hampton Roads), the VCA’s primary goal is to expand the region’s influence in cybersecurity, data analytics, and unmanned autonomous systems.
The VCA works to achieve this goal through three lines of effort – 1) internships and salary subsidies, 2) outreach, 3) and technology assistance.
This initiative is managed by Old Dominion University, Virginia Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation Center (VMASC) with partners in over 60 industry, government, and academic institutions spread across the region.
