Enter into your new cybersecurity careerThe Virginia Cyber Alliance has a unique way to encourage growth in cybersecurity jobs. This is done through subsidized internships and salary subsidies for employees new to the cyber career field or new to the region.
Are you a high school or college student or a recent graduate? We have an internship program that pays you to work with a local cybersecurity company while you are taking classes.
Are you a military member or veteran? We offer internships in cybersecurity that will give you the needed work experience to change careers.
It’s a win-win for all – employees achieve the experience needed to pursue successful careers and the employers grow their workforce and provides mentorship.
High School Cyber Internship Program.
The Virginia Cyber Alliance offers paid subsidies to regional high schools for placing students into the school or school system’s existing internship programs if the work is related to cyber and cybersecurity. These internships are coordinated by the local high schools within Hampton Roads and funds are competitively provided to support the student internships and program costs.

College and Military/Veteran Internship Program
The Virginia Cyber Alliance, working in partnership with the Virginia Space Grant Consortium, provides subsidies to company-paid cybersecurity internships in GO Virginia’s Region 5. The Virginia Space Grant Consortium manages the intern placements using the Commonwealth STEM Industry Internship Program (CSIIP).

The Digital Entrant Program Company
- Need to grow and stabilize your cybersecurity workforce?
- Need supervisory cybersecurity employees?
- Willing to mature cyber employees for your specific needs?
The Virginia Cyber Alliance has a subsidy program for selected new employees in Region 5 that offers up to $30,000 to the participating company during the first year of employment. The hiring company develops training and certification milestones for the employee to achieve while the employee incurs an obligation to remaining in the position for a minimum of two years. This is a win-win for both the new employee and the employer while building and stabilizing the Region 5 cybersecurity workforce.
