It achieved this by aligning regional educational and skills development offerings to the workforce practices and activities of business and non-profit organizations within the Hampton Roads region with the specific goal of supporting local economic development and job growth via establishment of a multi-stakeholder alliance. This is achieved by addressing the workforce needs of cybersecurity employers by increasing the pipeline of students pursuing cybersecurity careers from high schools, community colleges and universities. HRCyber was established in October 2016 with a grant from Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education Regional Alliances and Multi-stakeholder partnership program.
