The Ask Price is the price which sellers are asking buyers to pay to buy their shares in the market. It can be considered the lowest price at which you can currently buy shares in the market. It is quoted in the same units as the quoted price.
The Ask Price should be contrasted with the ‘Bid’ Price which is the price that buyers are bidding.
Note that the Ask Price is generally often higher than the Last Price and the Bid Price. Buyers can only buy at higher prices than sellers can sell. The difference between the Bid and Ask is known as the Spread.
