The 200 Day Moving Average is a long term moving average that helps determine the overall health of a stock. A 200 Day moving average is calculated by taking the closing prices for the last 200 days of any security, summing them together and dividing by 200.
A stock that is trading below its 200 Day Moving Average is considered to be in a long term downtrend, whereas a stock that is trading above its 200 Day Moving Average is in a long term uptrend. This metric is calculated in the same units and currency as the Quote price for each instrument.
